Veneer is sliced from flitches after the log is cut into quarters.
Prior to slicing, the logs are normally soaked or steamed in order
to increase the moisture content. This helps to produce a smoother veneer.

Leaves are generally stacked back in the same sequence that they are cut in, to help in creating a good design. The drying process then brings the moisture down to 8-10 %. The sides and ends are generally trimmed and then bundled. Each bundle
consists of 24 or 32 sheets.

These consecutive sheets are used for our decorative plywood. These veneers are overlaid on top of marine grade plywood to
give a decorative or hard- wearing finish. The plywood we use
for the base is full gurjan plywood, which is known for its durability and strength and resistance to wear and tear.
